When should I book seasonal snow removal?
Fall — September and October is when routes fill. Providers plan tight routes so they can clear everyone quickly during a storm, and late joiners only fit if there's room nearby. If it's already snowing, still ask; one-off help is often possible even when contracts are full.
How soon after a snowfall is the driveway cleared?
Service standards are usually tied to when the snow stops, not when it starts — during a long storm, crews may make a mid-storm pass on big accumulations and a final cleanup after. Exact timing depends on the route and the storm, and it's spelled out in the arrangement so there are no surprises.
Do you clear the pile the city plow leaves at the end of my driveway?
The windrow — every Ontario driveway's favourite surprise. It's part of proper service, because the plow often comes through after your driveway's been cleared. Fair warning: windrow snow is dense, heavy stuff, which is exactly why it's worth having someone else deal with it.
Is salting included?
It's scoped separately from plowing because needs differ — some households want walkways salted every visit, others only ask during ice events. On steps and walkways we'd recommend it; freeze-thaw glaze is the real injury risk, and timing salt before the refreeze is what prevents it.
Can I get a one-time clearing without a contract?
Weather permitting, yes — after a major storm, while you're travelling, or when the season got ahead of you. One-off visits are slotted around contract routes, so during a big storm contract customers come first, but we'll get to you as capacity opens.
